Moments to Educate:
Strike Your Balance in 2008!
Money impacts every facet of life and how you manage
money today has a tremendous impact on your
family and your future. Life happens and today it is
very easy to find yourself in a financial struggle. In
2008, I challenge you to make smart money choices
to create a healthy balance between stress and happiness.
It is a common misconception that making money
will bring more happiness and less stress. However,
this has proven not to always be true. While more
money brings momentary thrills and a few new
things, generally, people adjust their lifestyles in
ways that add more pressure in keeping up with
money demands instead of increasing their overall happiness or decrease stress. A better goal is to be“smarter” with the money you have. Consider these
basic tips:
Be Smart with Spending
-
Buy fewer things that you don’t need.
-
Before you buy new things, really think about if
these things will improve your quality of life or
create more stress.
-
Set up a budget. Write down everything that
you spend money on and compare it to the
amount of money you actually bring home.
Cut Down on Your Debt
-
Get out of debt (if you’re in debt).
-
Look for things you can cut out of your budget
(like eating out, morning lattes, cable, etc.).
-
Don’t fall prey to spending money on things
that you cannot afford to keep step with the
lifestyle of others.
-
Pay extra on credit card balances whenever
possible.
Remember that “daily management “ of you finances
is an important element in striking your balance in
2008.
